The contained Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Training Course is broken down into 16 manageable modules totalling 4-hours, designed to introduce the viewer to EFB general and advanced principles. The content includes Australian CASA, New-Zealand CAA, & PNG CASA References, and is therefore also applicable to other destinations in the Asia-Pacific region with similar regulations. Pilots of all aircraft types from a Commercial, Private, and Recreational background will benefit from this course. This content is based on the EFB Training material provided to the Australian Defence Force on behalf of OzRunways, delivered by the same facilitator.

The material satisfies the Australian requirements of CASA CAO 82.0 Appendix 9 Para 5&6, New Zealand CAA AC91-20, & PNG CASA AC 91-13, but also includes key information for non-commercial pilots. The content is a safety mitigator for flight schools and their students because flight training Manuals of Standards in Australian and New Zealand do not include competencies for the use of EFB at this time, and new pilots are often using EFB in flight for the first time on their own without any guidance.

The information includes relevant Air-Law, Hardware, Software, Human Factors, and Threat & Error Management material. The content then becomes more specific, looking at EFB software applications including pre-flight, briefing, planning, and in-flight factors. The training includes Advanced Functionality and Tips for Success. As a model for the training, Apple iOS v14.1, and the OzRunways Application are used, however the majority of points covered can also be applied to Android Platforms or other EFB Applications. For those interested in EFB Administrator content, refer to our EFB Manager & Administrator Course.
